Grant County Sheriff-Tax Office

The staff of the Grant County Sheriff’s Tax Office is dedicated to serving our citizens through the collection of property taxes for distribution to all levying bodies as well as renewal of vehicle registrations. We strive to provide a pleasant environment and to assist our customers to the best of our abilities.

Our office is located on the lower level of the Grant County Courthouse.

Our business hours are: Monday through Friday - 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. (excluding WV State holidays)

Please note that with the passage of SB 552 there is a new procedure for disposition of delinquent real estate taxes.

• At the close of business October 31, 2023, all delinquent 2022 real estate taxes will be certified to the state auditor. There will no longer be a tax lien sale held at the courthouse in November.
• To avoid certification, your payment must be received in the tax office by October 31, 2023. Guaranteed funds (cash, money order, certified check) will be required after October 15th. See our FAQ page for more information.
